COMMEZZADURA (VAL DI SOLE – TRENTINO), 11 SEPTEMBER 2016 –UCI Mtb World Championship Val di Sole 2016 see a lucky start for Italy thanks to wonderful victory clinched by Alessia Missiaggia (photo) from Bolzano, in the Juniors women. 17-year-old Italian athlete was protagonist in Europe Cup with three victories and a third place in World Cup overall this year in Lenzerheide in Switzerland. Today she did a great job, a true surprise. She was fifth yesterday in the timed runs but today she did a perfect ride with incredible lines and fished with a time of 5:29:011.
Silver went to USA’s Samantha Kingshill (+11.946) and bronze to French Flora Leosin (+25.960), who fell two days ago and was taken to Trento Hospital by helicopter for a check-up. Beatrice Migliorini (+39”338) came in fourth, unable to repeat yesterday’s second best time.
The new DHI Junior World Champion has been racing for three years and usually trains near Bolzano and in Trentino. She studied at the Rainerum in Bolzano and will soon move to Canada to study and train.
Thousands of spectators crowd up along the Black Snake, the craziest and wildest course in the world where only champions win.
